Dear Members
After the cold dark days of Winter
it is good to see the lighter nights, feel the warmer breezes and enjoy
the new life which the promise of Easter brings.
At last, after many years of effort
we are on the way to obtaining a battlefield walk for Evesham (further
details will appear on this website and in future issue of The Lion).
Thanks are due to the Rudge estate and its tenants, and not least the hard
work of the committee. We have now succeeded in becoming tenants of
the Battlewell field on Greenhill. This, the traditional place of
Simon's death will, with the permission of the Rudge estate and generous
cooperation of the other tenants, become part of what we hope will
eventually become a Battlefield walk covering some of the finest views in
the Vale.
For this, of course, we need MONEY -
we need our help in terms of interest and support.
Will you raise some money for us?
Help us - increase our membership and keep it!
One way in which you might help -
hold a disappearing coffee morning ...
Ask five friends to coffee, tell
them why and ask for a donation from all of them (agreed upon by you).
Each friend has to promise in turn to invite four friends to their homes
for coffee - on the same terms and they promise to invite three friends
each and so on. Depending on your agreed amount you will have a sum
of money to assist us. What about it? Any other ideas?
Let me know what you think, please.
You may have other and better ideas.
Can you help? Big oak trees
from little acorns grow - and you might get us a few new members in the
process!
My thanks to the Committee for all
their help and support and to those who help so willingly during the year
... to Free Lance who looks after our website ... and to Peter Brown who
prints our magazine.
Now we prepare for our Annual
General Meeting on April 21st and I hope that as many of you as possible
will be at that meeting.
Meanwhile - have a peaceful and
restful Easter and may you feel new life and enthusiasm surge within you!
Very best wishes,
Iris M Pinkstone
