The most useful and best referenced of the books on the
battle is still that by David Carpenter, 1987. This
has been supplemented by an excellent account by David
Cox, which first presented the broad and simple structure for the battle which
has now been confirmed and developed as a result of the newly discovered
account, by Labordiere et al. Tony Spicer has also provided an
alternative interpretation of the battle, which you can read
by clicking here. However, the paper by Laborderie et al. has
rendered all previous studies of the battle outdated to some degree.

Contemporary Accounts
There are a number of original accounts that give details
of the action. The book by David Carpenter,

transcription and translation of them.

Simon de Montfort : a new account." English Historical Review, no. 115 (2000):

newly discovered account. The Simon de
Montfort Society. The Last Hours of Simon de Montfort: A New Account, A Lion
