If you are interested in this very
colourful character, the history of the area
around his last battle, or in the history of the
thirteenth century in general, then you might like to join the
Evesham based Simon de Montfort Society, whose official website this is.

The Lion Magazine, which comes out three
times a year, contains articles on |
|
Churches and battle sites,
etc., topics of interest to social and political historians plus details
of all the meeting dates and events. Even if you cannot get to all
of our meetings, walks and talks we have been reliably informed that "The
Lion" magazine is worth the £7.00 annual subscription on its own!
The Society's programme includes
lectures with an historical theme, visits to sites of particular
historical interest, social events, an annual day-school and the, by now,
traditional wreath-laying ceremony, service and battlefield walk on the
weekend nearest to the anniversary of Earl Simon's death at the Battle of
Evesham. Click here to view the
programme for 2004.
